Funded by Faith in the Community Scotland (FICS) Jan to Dec 2021.
The project aimed to have various charities from different areas of Scotland work together to address some of the systemic issues in their community.
EWfC’s community is made up of asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable individuals living in Glasgow. The project sought to provide support to help reduce some community challenges including isolation, poor mental health, poor diet and poverty.
The project achievements included:
A trip to Loch Lomond which allowed for better interaction and getting together in outdoor activitiesStoryteller sessionsSharing recipesProduction and distribution of our bookletTeam building day with fun get-together activities facilitated by FICS for volunteers, staff and service usersEWfC built better organisational capacity by the support of the FICS teamRan weekly sewing sessionsDistributed more than 4000 food parcels and food vouchers equivalent to £3000Donated clothing, including school uniforms and winter clothing, to asylum seeking and vulnerable families
As part of the project, we created a booklet showing readers how to grow their own vegetables with food leftovers, promoting sustainability and food security!
